CEL: Empowering Learner Voice

The Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL) is part of the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) which is dedicated to the development of the further education and skills sector.

Project brief:

Empower 12 learners from City and Islington College (http://www.candi.ac.uk/) to share their experience with leaders of the Further Education sector at CEL's 'Leading through Teaching and Learning' Conference.

What we did:

• Worked with a diverse group of young people including NEETs to deeply reflect on further education
• Used drama workshops and facilitated discussions to explore participants' educational experience
• Co-created a devised piece of performance drawing out the key aspects of the learner voice
• Prepared the participants for round-table discussions with conference delegates
• Encouraged participants presentation and critical thinking skills and increased their confidence
• Produced a performance offering a genuine insight into the learner voice
